Abstract

Herein, we report on the synthesis 3D porous carbon materials derived from biomass precursor via a simple activation method. The proposed carbon-based electrodes showed efficient capacitive behavior by testing in two capacitive based applications. As capacitive deionizers the fabricated electrodes exhibited effective salt removal with very good long-term stability. In the same time, the proposed carbon-based electrodes were tested as supercapacitor electrodes in symmetric device that displayed extraordinary capacitive behavior. We introduced also electrochemical approach for evaluation of the choice of the potential window and optimization of the charge balance for carbon-based electrodes in hybrid energy storage supercapacitor
