Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic disorders characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. Patients with DM are more liable for cardiovascular disease, and they could show hypercoagulability through increased thrombotic tendencies and high levels of coagulation factors. Statins,ACE inhibitors (ACEI) or angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) may have a role in reducing their mortality and morbidity and improving their life quality. Patients and methods: Protein C and S levels were investigated in the following groups: group A: 30 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus receiving ACEI/ARBS.group B: 30 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus receiving Statin therapy.group C: 30 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus receiving Statins and ACEI/ARBS group D (control group): 30 patients with type 2 diabetes not receiving ACEI/ARBS or Statins
