Abstract

Burst fracture is the most common type of thoracolumbar fractures and carries significant morbidity. The goals of treatment are restoration of good alignment, a normal pain-free status, and the dynamic and protective functions of the spine. There is controversy about the optimal treatment. Implant failure and recurrent kyphosis are known complications. The subject of this study is to compare functional and radiological outcomes, and rate of complications between posterior pedicle screw fixation with fusion and the stand-alone fixation without fusion
