Abstract Amlodipine besylate (AB) is a long-acting dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker. It is effective in the treatment of angina pectoris and hypertension. Poor aqueous solubility (slightly soluble) and low permeability through GIT of AB seems to lower the bioavailability (60{u2013}65%) and hence limits the access of the drug to its therapeutic targets like heart and cardiac smooth muscles. AB also undergoes first pass metabolism.AB is a photosensitive drug and requires protection from light. For these reasons, attempts have been made to enhance bioavailability and stability of AB.Therefore, in this study, AB was formulated as nano-vesicles and nanoemulsion for oral delivery based on the fact that these nano-carriers have shown the potential to enhance bioavailability and stability of drugs |
