Abstract

Objectives, The aim of this study was to determine the effect of butekyo breathing on the tolerance in patients under renal haemodialysis. Sixty patients under renal haemodialysis from 1-3 years selected from the outpatients clinic of the Mitghamer Nephrology and Urology Hospital. subjects: Sixty patients age ranged between 45 to 55 years. They were assigned into two equal in number groups. Methods, group (A)consist of 30 patients of 22 men and 8 women who received a program of butekyo breathing exercise, Their BMI were 30.23 kg/m2 . group (B)consist of 30 patients of 22 men and 8 women who received a program of diaphragmatic and localized breathing exercise, Their BMI were 30.65 kg/m2 . The treatment program continued for 12 weeks (3 sessions of exercise per week). Laboratory investigations for Arterial blood gases (pH, PCO2, PO2, DLCO/total CO2, DLCO/HCO3 and 6Minute walking test (Borg scale) were measured at the beginning and after the treatment program for all patients of both groups. Results, The results of this study revealed that there were significant decrease in (pH, PCO2, PO2, DLCO/total CO2, DLCO/HCO3 and Borg scale at the first & end)within normal range at post treatment compared to pre-treatment within group A and group B. moreover, there were no significant differences in pre-(pH, PCO2, PO2, DLCO/total CO2, DLCO/HCO3 and Borg scale at the first & end) and post-(pH, PCO2, PO2, DLCO/total CO2, DLCO/HCO3 and Borg scale at the first & end) between group A and group B. the overall improvement percentages for all measured variables were 22.00% for butekyo group (group A)vs. 30.43% for diaphragmatic + localized group (group B). Conclusion, The result indicated that the overall improvement percentage was higher with diaphragmatic + localized group (group B)than butekyo group (group A)
