Abstract

Cadmium sulfide (CdS) quantum dot (QD) thin films were prepared on FTO substrates using chemical bath deposition (CBD) and successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) methods under variedly operating conditions. The structural, morphological, and optical properties of the prepared CdS thin films were studied and the particle size of the CdS QDs was calculated and found to be 3-7 nm by using CBD method and was 4.5-9.5 nm in the case of using SILAR method. A high solar cell conversion efficiency was achieved by using both of the two methods. The excellent performance with {u014B} value of 1.367 was obtained for CdS/TiO2 QDs fabricated with CBD method; on the other hand the maximum power conversion efficiency was1.535% obtained with SILAR method
