Abstract Aim:The aim of the present study was to evaluate and compare the dentin micro-hardness, dentinal erosion, push out bond strength of resin sealer to dentin and antibacterial efficiency against E.faecalis after irrigation with sodium hypochlorite followed by grape seed extract solution versus irrigation with sodium hypochlorite followed by EDTA. Methodology: A total of 16 teeth were used for the dentin micro-hardness test. Each tooth was sectioned vertically into 2 halves and the VHN was measured before and after irrigation with the intervention (5.25% NaOCl+ 13% GSE) or comparator (5.25% NaOCl+ 17% EDTA) irrigation protocols. Two representative specimens were taken from each group for scanning electron microscope evaluation. A total of 12 teeth were used for push out bond strength. Mechanical instrumentation was performed with application of the corresponding irrigant protocol for each group roots. After obturation and thermocycling of the roots, push out bond strength specimens were prepared. Each specimen was aligned in the universal testing machine and push-out test was performed. A total of 18 teeth were used to evaluate the antibacterial efficiency of the test groups against E.faecalisusing agar dilution method.Statistical analysis of data obtained from each test was performed (p<0.05). Results:Results of microhardness test revealed that irrigation with the comparator irrigation protocol(34.75 %) caused significantly higher percentage reduction compared to the intervention (17.48 %). Results of SEM exhibited that the intervention irrigation protocol showed mild erosion |
