The cataloging and categorizing process is one of the most significant technical procedures that libraries implement in order to provide and organize the vast quantities of knowledge resources in their different forms and topics. Libraries then present those resources to researchers and students of different fields of study. This study aims at: highlighting the structure of the RDA, its characteristics, form, and its relation to other models; identifying the problems that faced the AACR rules; identifying the reasons that led to the emergence of the RDA and highlighting the most important differences between them; and designing a database of master degrees theses in the field of libraries catalogued according to RDA. This study is important because of taking master degrees theses as a basic resource of information, using and providing the resources (RDA) which solves the problems that encounter the Anglo American Cataloguing Rules especially with the progress in information technology. This study uses the descriptive approach which is one of the best approaches in describing the phenomenon to be investigated and identifying the factors that can solve it. It also uses it to highlight the changes that led to the emergence of the RDA and identifying the differences between the AACR2 and the RDA.This study includes five chapters and it has some outcomes. The most important one is that the RDA is an important standard for describing resources and the access to them. It’s also designed for digital surroundings and it aims at finding, identifying, getting, using, managing and organizing information as it’s a descriptive method which covers all media. The RDA is a successor to the Anglo American Cataloguing Rules and it’s not something complementary. There have been some other basic standards being considered upon designing the RDA such as the ISBD, Marc 21 Format for Bibliographic Data, Marc 21 Format for Authority Data and a group of standards describing the special data of Dublin Core standard. The RDA standard corresponds with the ONIX standard which is a framework to categorize resources. The data designed by the researcher on Future Demo is of great importance in telling about theses accredited by the Egyptian universities in library science and also in avoiding repetition in research topics. This study recommends adopting a unified strategy in Arab libraries towards the Resources Describing and Access (RDA) which is going to make it easier for using and applying. It also recommends using a unified policy by academic libraries in cataloging, not allowing improvisation and revising works to guarantee unity and safety of application.
