Abstract Diabetes is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia resulting from defects in insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. The chronic hyperglycemia of diabetes is associated with long-term damage, dysfunction, and failure of different organs, especially the eyes, kidneys, nerves, heart, and blood vessels, Aim and objectives; to detect and quantify early subtle left ventricular (LV) systolic dysfunction using Tissue Doppler Imaging in diabetic patients with apparently normal LV ejection fraction, Subjects and methods; This prospective observational study was conducted in Mansoura university hospital. This study was conducted on 90 patients referred to the echocardiography unit at the cardiology department, Mansoura University. The patients divided into three groups: group A: Included thirty uncontrolled diabetic patients with HbAlc > 8%. group B: Included thirty controlled diabetic patients with HbAlc < 8%. group C: Control group included thirty non diabetic normal individuals with normal HbAlc < 6%, Result; there is a significant difference between the three studied groups regarding Vp, E/A ratio, peak A՝ and Peak E՝ for poor control diabetic patients, Conclusion; Tissue Doppler Imaging is a simple and effective method for detection of subtle LV systolic dysfunction in type 2 uncontrolled diabetic patients. |
