Abstract In view of the emergence of drug-resistant microbial strains, the search for new antibacterial and antifungal chemotherapeutics has become an increasingly important part of medicinal chemistry. Extensive efforts to develop new metal-based drugs have been observed. In this context, silver(I) complexes have attracted a great deal of attention due to their biological and pharmacological properties which provide them with antibacterial and antifungal activities [1-6].The therapeutic application of silver in the form of inorganic salts and complexes such as silver(I) nitrate and silver(I) sulfadiazine against local infections is fully recognized. The use of nanosilver in wound dressings and medical devices has increased recently[7,8]. |
