Abstract Suicide is a serious world health problem, with more deaths by suicide worldwide than by war. It is considered a psychiatric emergency.Suicide is defined as ending one’s life intentionally. According to the world health organization about 800,000 suicides are documented globally every year, It means that every 40 seconds, someone dies by suicide someplace in the world and more people make non-lethal suicide attempts. Prevention strategies can be achieved by restricting access to methods, school-based awareness programs, certain psychological treatments, especially cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT),were significant in preventing suicide and pharmacological treatments also showed benefits. This work was based on the hypothesis that socioeconomic, cultural and psychological factors could contribute to the emergence of suicidal behavior in individuals. |
