Abstract Cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA) is a sensitivity reaction against cow’s milk and is classified as IgE-mediated, non-IgE-mediated and mixed types according to the underlying immunological mechanisms. It is the most common food allergy under 3 years of age, and its incidence is increasing in developed and developing countries. We aimed at our study to avoid under diagnosis and over diagnosis of cow milk protein allergy in infants. Our study tested the validity of CoMiSS scoring in infants in Ismailia as awareness tool for early detection of cow milk protein allergy. Convenient sample was taken from infants presented to Pediatrics gastroenterology outpatient clinic in Suez Canal University Hospital from January 2019 to January 2021. Infants were subjected to history, examination, laboratory test, CoMiSS and Oral food challenge test. 84 subjects were enrolled in the study. 55 participants (65.5%) had finally diagnosed with positive CMPA & 29 participants (34.5 %) had finally diagnosed negative CMPA. Of the 84 cases 38 were males & 46 were females. |
