Abstract

Suction technique is a vital procedure that promotes respiratory secretion clearance, improves oxygenation, and prevents atelectasis. It is regarded as an essential technique for both paediatric and adult patients; however, if performed incorrectly, it can result in serious side effects such as hypoxia, bronchoconstriction, bleeding, infection, lung atelectasis, increased intracranial pressure, cardiac arrest, and sudden death (25). Because the procedure can be harmful to the patient if done incorrectly, it is critical that ICU nurses have the necessary knowledge and skills in suction techniques based on valid scientific evidence To manage actual or potential health problems affecting patients, nursing practice necessitates specialized knowledge and practice.Nurses play an important role in health care services, providing patient care as well as serving in leadership positions in hospitals, health systems, and other organizations. However, being a nurse is fraught with difficulties and obstacles.
