Abstract PF is a dangerous condition with a high mortality rate. It could be the result of occupational, environmental, or drug-related exposures, direct lung injury, genetic abnormalities. The cause of many cases is unknown. Regardless of the type of injury or cause, the pathophysiology of all forms of PF is not fully understood. These disorders are characterized by the accumulation of ECM in the lung interstitium with a loss of lung compliance and impaired gas exchange that ultimately leads to .respiratory failure |
