Abstract

In this study, thirty-five patients were highly suspicious to have gastric tumors using axial and multiplanar reformatted (MPR) coronal and sagittal images. All patients were fasted for at least 6h before examination. The MDCT as preceded by water distention of the stomach and contrast enhanced MDCT was used, after that data analysis and TNM staging was done. The tumor was determined whether localized or diffusely infiltrative, site, size and shape of the lesion, the enhancement pattern, the extent of the tumor, the metastatic lymph nodes, peritoneal deposits, ascites and after that the results were determined. Females were more affected than males and the risk increased with age in the present study. The most common affected site according to our study was the pylorus (34.3%). According to our study the most common type of malignant gastric tumors was adenocarcinoma. Poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma was the most common malignant tumor found in this study (28.6 %). Different CT patterns were observed as focal wall thickening, circumferential wall thickening, ulcerating and polypoidal, the most.
