Abstract

The present study investigates the seismic attributes, structural framework and petrophysical characteristics of some Jurassic (Lower Safa Member) and Cretaceous (Alam El-Bueib-3E, and Alam El-Bueib-3D) reservoirs. This is to evaluate their hydrocarbon potentialities through the integration of 2D seismic and well logging data from five wells in Pepi Oil Field, Shushan basin that is located in the North Western Desert of Egypt between latitudes 30° 27’ 06’’- 30° 27’ 39’’N and longitudes 26° 02’ 40’’- 26° 03’ 32’’E. Synthetic seismographs and check shots were established for tying seismic (time) and well log data (depth) to help in picking different horizons. The interpreted seismic lines, two way time maps and depth structure contour maps were constructed to depict the structural pattern of the study area and determine whether the structure configuration is appropriate for petroleum accumulations. These results were utilized to establish a 3D structural model that subdivide the study area to various structural compartments. The latter are represented by a horst at northern part of study area and a half graben at the central part which extend from northeast to southeast and a graben in the south and southwestern parts.
