Abstract

Two field experiments were conducted at the Experimental station, Faculty of Agriculture, Cairo University, Giza, Egypt during two winter successive seasons (2018/19 and 2019/20).Ten varieties of Egyptian clover, namely, Hartuor, Narmar Sinai 2, Giza 6, Helaly, Gemiza, Serw1, Sakha 4, Khadrawy and Meskawi were used in both seasons. The experimental design was Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD), with four replications .Plot size was 16m2. The experiments were sown on November 5th and November 28th for first season and second seasons, respectively. The Seed was sown broadcast with seeding rate of 20 kg/acre. The recommended cultural practices of growing Egyptian clover were followed to raise normal plant growth. Four cuttings were taken in each season. Plant height (cm), number of leaves per plant, fresh leaves/stems ratio, dry leaves/stems ratios were recorded at the time of each cut. Fresh and dry yields (ton acre-1) for each cut were determined. Seasonal fresh and dry yields (ton acre-1) were calculated by summation the forage yield of four cuts at each season. Data were subjected to regular analysis of variance and differences between means were judged by L.S.D. test at 5% probability levels. The variability present in the population was estimated by measure mean, range, phenotypic and genotypic variance. Phenotypic and genotypic variances, genotypic and phenotypic coefficients of variation were estimated. Broad sense heritability, and genetic advance and the genetic advance as percentage of the mean of all traits were calculated. Also, Simple phenotypic correlations coefficients among studied traits were computed
