Abstract This study aimed at investigating the impact of an E-environment based on virtual language laboratory on developing listening comprehension of first grade secondary stage in Egypt. This study adopted the pre/post-test one-group quasi-experimental design. It employed three instruments: A listening comprehension skills list; a listening comprehension skills test and an E- environment based on a virtual language laboratory. They were administered to a sample of 30 female first grade students in El-Sadat secondary school in Tanta, Egypt. They practiced five listening comprehension skills via an E-environment based on virtual language laboratory for nine weeks. Data was collected and analyzed using Paired Sample t-test and Eta squared formula to calculate the effect size. The results reflected support for the research hypotheses. They revealed significant differences at 0.01 level between the pre/posttest of the overall listening comprehension and sub skills in favor of the posttest. They proved large effect of the E-environment based on virtual language laboratory on developing listening comprehension A set of recommendations were presented |
