Abstract

Purpose: comparison between the OCT angiography of optic nerve head and circumpapillary capillary network in OAG and normal age matched population. Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) has enabled accurate visualization and quantification of the radial peripapillary capillaries (RPC), which provide valuable functional information in disease processes such as glaucoma. Using OCTA, we characterize the RPC density across the posterior pole in healthy eyes, and its relationship with retinal nerve fiber layer (NFL) thickness. Design: cross-sectional controlled observational study Methods: The study will include 30 eyes with primary open angle glaucoma compared with 30 control eyes. Two sets of optical coherence tomography and angiography images optic nerve head were acquired during one visit. OCTA was performed using the RTVue XR Avanti with AngioVue (Optovue, Fremont, California, USA).Results: the study reveals that PRPC OCTA is a reliable, rapid, non-invasive technique in detection of early glaucomatous changes of the optic nerve head. Conclusion: PRPC OCTA is a new promising technique in detection and following-up of glaucomatous patients
