Abstract Objective: The aim of this prospective observational study is to evalute abnormal uterine bleeding in postmenpausal women using 3D (dimensional) ultrasound assessment of endometrial volume. Doppler assessment of endometrium and hysteroscopy and to correlate this finding with pathological finding of endometrial biopsy Material and methods: One hundred postmenpausal women with abnormal uterine bleeding will be subjected to 3D ultrasound assessment of endometrial volume, Hysterscope will be performed to assess the uterine cavity then Endometrial sampling will be carried out by formal dilatation and curettage and the samples will be sent for histopathological assessment. Results: The age ranged between 50 and 70 years with a mean of 55 years. They had a mean parity of 4.52. The most common endometrial histopathology was endometrial hyperplasia then endometrial polyps(then endometrial carcinoma, Endometrial volume measurement was a significant investigations to differentiate between atrophic endometrium, benign endometrial pathology and endometrial carcinoma in postmenopausal patients but not a significant tool in differentiating hyperplasia from polyp. Hysteroscopy is the best single investigation to use, to predict the endometrial pathology. However, histopathological diagnosis is always needed to confirm the suspicion |
