Abstract Modern people are facing a number of inevitable challenges. One of these challenges is represented in being forced to live in buildings that fail to respond to future needs. Therefore, it has become one of the modern life essentials to have flexible buildings that can respond to their users{u2019}changing needs. This is the pivot idea behind the flexible buildings, which should be able to cope with the future needs; to convert; and to interact. The flexible architecture is one of buildings{u2019} development aspects, as it is part of the solution of functional problems that need creative response. The creative response qualifies any building to respond to its users{u2019} needs through attaining new functions to the building. The principle of flexibility can be applied in all patterns of buildings. This study tackles the application of flexibility principle on educational buildings, i.e. basic education schools.
