Abstract

Evaluation of Flouride Release from Conventional Chemical Cure Glass Ionomer and Resin modified glass Ionomer as Pit and Fissure Sealants in Permanent Molars (An In Vitro study) {u2018}{u2018}(Under supervision of [Sherif Bahgat Eltawil][Manal Ahmed Elsheikh]){u02EE} Aim: Evaluation of fluoride release from conventional chemical cure glass ionomer and from the resin modified glass ionomer as pits and fissure sealants Research question: Which material will show more fluoride release conventional glass ionomer or resin modified glass ionomer? Methodology: Thirty extracted human caries free permanent molars were used in the study and divided into two groups group I for resin modified glass ionomer FujiTRIAGE and group II for conventional chemical cure glass ionomer VOCO as 15 tooth in each group, each molar tooth was cleaned by water and soft bristle brush and the fissure sealant was applied on each tooth surface according to manufacturer instruction then kept in artificial saliva to be examined after 48 hours,7,15,28 days subsequently . Results: The result of this study showed that the resin modified glass ionomer group FujiTRIAGE exhibit more fluoride release than conventional glass ionomer VOCO group. Conclusions: Both materials used in this study release fluoride, but there is a different in fluoride release rate for each material. The initial Fluoride release was highest from Resin modified glass ionomer followed by conventional glass ionomer. Both materials exhibited the highest fluoride release in the first 48 hours
