Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of both gibberellic acid and proline foliar sprayed in different rates, some sources of boron with two rates of NPK fertilizer on some growth parameters, nutritional status, yield productivity, sugar yield, some biochemical components in sugar beet plants and its side effect of residual on human health. An experimental field was carried out on soil clay loam in texture at Giza research station, Agricultural Research Center, Giza Governorate, Egypt during two successive seasons, i.e. 2017{u2215}18, 2018{u2215}19 on sugar beet (Beta vulgaris L. cv. Sara) plants. The obtained data showed a positive response for foliar application of gibberellin and proline on some plant growth parameters, nutritional status, biochemical constituents, sucrose content and yield productivity of sugar beet plants. Also, data revealed that the application of gibberellin at rate of 100 mg l-1 or proline at rate of 200 mg l-1 were the most effective for all parameters under study. Regard to boric acid and B-NPs data revealed that the application of boron in B-NPs form was more effective treatment under application of 75 % of macronutrient combined with plant growth regulators used. The obtained results represented that the interaction between gibberellin at rate of 100 mg l-1 or proline at rate of 200 mg l-1 combined with nano boron at 75 % of macronutrients were the most effective treatments for pigment contents, nutritional status, some biochemical constituents, sucrose quality, sucrose yield and yield parameters under study of sugar beet plants
