Abstract The thesis involves the formation and detect the characteristics of silver doped sodium phosphate glass with chemical compositions 42P₂O₅-42ZnO-(16-x)Na₂O, (where x = 0, 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, {u2026}., 6.8 Ag₂O). The glass samples were prepared by conventional melting quenching techniques. Powder X-ray diffraction carried out for structure investigation of prepared glass samples, FT-IR measured at room temperature to investigate any changes in the glass structure after doping of silver ions as a silver oxide, UV/VIS absorption have been measured to elucidate the silver ion state within the prepared glass network, Also optical parameter equations have been done to study the prepared samples optical characteristics. At last, the antimicrobial effect for the both glass compositions doped and un-doped glasses have been carried out using disc diffusion assay method for some standard bacterial and fungal strains to investigate the antimicrobial activity for the prepared glass samples and showing the effect of increasing silver ion concentration which act as main antimicrobial agent in this composition |
