Abstract Minimal intervention dentistry utilizes scientific advances with modern techniques in order to maximize the preservation of healthy oral tissues. This study aimed to analyze knowledge, attitude and practice of a group of dental interns in Cairo University, Egypt, using a cross-sectional survey. The survey consisted of twenty nine (29) close-ended questions, in addition to collecting some demographic data such as age and gender. We statistically analyzed one-hundred-forty-six (146) questionnaires with a response rate of (73%). Our subjects held good attitude towards minimal intervention dentistry but they had fair knowledge and practice mean scores. Although our subjects held good knowledge regarding caries risk assessment, they had poor knowledge regarding preventive and treatment techniques of minimal intervention dentistry. Pearson correlation analysis of our results showed weak positive correlation between knowledge and attitude of minimal intervention dentistry. Statistical analysis of our results showed that younger dentists had better knowledge and attitude regarding minimal intervention dentistry. Care should be taken in interpretation of our results, because it depends on selfreporting of practices |
