Abstract

Blepharoplasty has been the gold standard of treatment for upper eyelid dermatochalasis. This prospective study included 30 subjects (all were females) with dermatochalasis aged from 44 years to 58 years with the Mean age ±SD was 51.07 ± 4.93 years underwent to upper eye lid blepharoplasty. We evaluated the ocular surface changes preoperative and one, three, six months post-operative. Routine full ophthalmic examination is done and examination of eyelid position, asymmetry, ptosis, lid fold height, dry eye assessment by schirmer test, TBUT, ocular surface staining by fluorescein stain, slit lamp tear meniscus and anterior segment OCT for evaluation tear meniscus height, area and depth. We found that all the dry eye tests had statistically significance except the ocular surface staining. The tear meniscus height, depth, and cross-section area values decreased significantly at 1 month postoperatively, then started to increase after 3 months postoperative and returned like preoperative after 6 months.
