Abstract Background Cardiac injuries in form of direct myocarditis or indirect factors, such as cardiac stress due to respiratory failure, systemic inflammatory response-cytokine release syndrome, stress cardiomyopathy, prothrombotic state or a combination of all these factors. Aim of the study was to evaluate mid-term cardiac sequelae in recovered covid-19 patients using speckle tracking echocardiography(2D-STE) particularly those with normal RV and LV EF.Patients and methods Healthcare workers tested positive for COVID-19 were included from May 2020 to January 2021. Echocardiography performed in 145±35 days of infection. Cases were divided into mild and moderate groups according to COVID-19 infection. Results Among the 129 patients recruited, mean age was 34.2±9.85 and the majority were female 68.2%. The LV-GLS values of the mild and moderate groups were -18.57±2.8 % and -17.42 ±2.4 % respectively, and the difference between both groups was statistically significant. the values of RV-GLS in the mild and the moderate groups were -22.06±3.3 and -21.85±2.8 respectively, and the values of RVFWS were -24.67±4.3 and -24.51±4.8 respectively, the difference between both groups regarding RV-GLS and RVFWS was statistically insignificant |
