Abstract

Introduction: Hemophilia is a genetic disease that impairs quality of life due to its chronicity, where the individual will experience spontaneous bleeding or bleeding after an injury which requires frequent visits to the hospital for treatment. Aim of work: to assess the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of children and adolescents with Hemophilia. Patients and methods: This is a cross-sectional study conducted on 131 hemophilic patients and 78 controls. HRQoL of hemophilia patients was assessed by Hem QoL questionnaire. HRQoL of control group was assessed by using Short Form-36 health survey questionnaire, version 2 (SF-36v2). Results: The mean age of the patients was 9 ± 5.4 years. After reviewing the patients’ quality of life, it was observed that the mean score for physical function was 53.93, score of feeling 55.21, score of view 63.61, score of family 58.37, score of perceived support 43.22, score of school & sport and daily activity 44.39, score of dealing 61.86. Children with hemophilia showed significant lower HRQoL scores compared to controls as regards family, dealing, view, perceived support (p = {u02C2}0.001)
