Abstract

Dermatophytosis is a common superficial mycotic infection in both human and animals. Commonly known as {u2015}Tinea{u2016} in human and {u2015}Ringworm{u2016} in animals. A group of closely related fungi belongs to three main genera are the causative agent of dermatophytosis. Those genera are Microsporum, Trichophyton and Epidermophyton. All cases of dermatophytosis need an exhaustive and time-consuming traditional laboratory diagnosis. A confirmed dermatophytes identification may take up to one month of lab based culturing and further identification techniques. Through the current study we succeed to develop an affordable, sensitive, specific, user-friendly rapid, robust, device-less and deliverable to end user{u2018}s substitution for those culture-based techniques. The newly developed kit is based on lateral flow immunochromatographic assay. The newly developed diagnostic kit for rapid diagnosis of dermatophytosis showed a real promising diagnostic result in comparison to the time-consuming gold standard traditional culturing method
