Abstract Background Burn injuries in children are problematic because many risk factors can contribute to its scarring and may result in bacteremia, sepsis, or multiple-organ dysfunction. Aim of the study : This study aimed to identify risk factors associated with wound infection in burned children. Research Design: A descriptive exploratory research design was utilized for this study Setting: This study was conducted in burn and plastic surgeries center, at El- Mansoura University Hospitals (MUH) Sample A convenience sample of 75 hospitalized burned children were chosen based on certain inclusion criteria & 30 nurses were observed.Tools of data collection: Three main parts of tools were used for this study: part I Structured Interview contains:- 1.Biosocial data for burned children and nurses in charge of admitted burned children. 2- Health Profile of burned children about personal data of burned children and nurses in charge of admitted burned children. Part II presents data about burned children. Part III: Observational checklists: that covered structural standard of the burn unit and availability of facilities needed which contacted to child’s wound of the burn Results: The age of burned children was between 1-3 years old, two-thirds of children were male, All nurses who deal with burned children were not adherent to hand washing before and after each procedure |
