Abstract Purpose of the study: To identify the effect of closed building syndrome on pulmonary function.Subjects: Eighty switch workers men, non-smoker, work in closed building for more than five years, for six to eight hours per day were included in this study.Their age ranged from thirty to forty years old.They were recruited from El-Kasr El-Ainy University Hospital. Before inclusion in this study full description of study, procedures for each patient and written consent had been signed.Methods: All patients were evaluated with ventilatory function testing (FVC - FEV1-FEV1/FVC- FEF(25-75%), arterial blood gases (PH{u2013} PaO2 {u2013} SaO2 {u2013} HCO3) and time of work duration.This study was started from February 2019 and ended in June 2020.Results: The results showed that there was significantly relation between working time and respiratory functions also, this means that change in the respiratory functions are consistent with change in total working time.Conclusion: It was concluded that there was strong negative relation between total working time and respiratory functions.The increase in working time in closed building is associated with decrease in respiratory functions |
