Abstract

The present study was done in Tanta University hospital at the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Tanta University Hospitals. 70 patients were included in this study. This study was done over a period from May 2020 until March 2022. The aim of the study was Assessment of fetal adrenal gland total length, total width, fetal zone length and fetal zone width by 2-dimensional ultrasound in women at full term to predict the spontaneous term labor. The inclusion criteria for patients in this study were Age 18–35 years, Singleton pregnancy, Vertex presentation and Presenting for third trimester ultrasound between 37–42 weeks of gestational age. The exclusion criteria for patients in this study were Known scheduled caesarean delivery ,Receipt of 17- alpha hydroxyprogesterone ,Cerclage ,Stillborn foetuses ,Fetal anomalies incompatible with life ,Known uterine anomaly ,Intrauterine growth restriction ,Polyhydramnios and oligohydramnios ,Cases of antepartum haemorrhage ,Maternal medical disorders that nessicate normal vaginal delivery (Diabetes mellitus, Gestational diabetes and maternal heart disease, Preeclampsia, eclampsia and chronic hypertension). All patients in this study were subjected to the following: 1-History taking including the personal history, risk factors as hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity, drug intake, smoking etc., obstetric history, menstrual history and family history. 2-Clinical examination All pregnant women underwent general examination including vital signs evaluation, systemic and obstetric examination.
