Abstract This study aimed to evaluate two treatment protocols rehabilitation cases of class II Kennedy classification using 3d finite element stress analysis. The two treatment protocols which are used to achieve this goal were the bilateral removable partial denture retained which is supported posteriorly by one short implant and unilateral removable partial denture retained and supported by two short implants. If all the parameters are monitored as mentioned in the study thus, other innovative treatment protocols would be available for cases of class II Kennedy. And the 3D finite element analysis stress would be capable of solving such problems, achieving progress for new treatment modalities and put our world in a new mode with a new concept of dental treatment in the coming days. Removable partial dentures when the edentulous spaces posterior to the anterior remaining teeth have to be stored, remain as an essential prosthetic consideration in various conditions of oral rehabilitation. Where, the absence of lower posterior teeth makes the planning and control of removable partial dentures difficult considering that support is provided by teeth and mucosa, which present different anatomical characteristics. For successful prosthetic rehabilitation, careful attention and meticulous treatment planning are always sought. Substantially, rehabilitation of partially edentulous arch can be challenging when it is a distal extension situation classified under Kennedy’s class I and class II situations. Such cases of distal extension are the most common clinical situation among various partially edentulous conditions where, the mandibular distal extension is more common than maxillary one due to the general pattern of tooth loss. Short implants are one of the best solutions for the free end saddle cases, as they used in resorbed residual bone in the posterior area with no need of bone grafting surgery. Short implant retained partial over denture shows a good prognoses over the conventional over denture specially fixed detachable prosthesis as they preserve the bone and surrounding tissues from masticatory load. Finite element analysis considered the most effective e tool used now a days for analysis in dental felid as it shows results in a 3D view and gives exact and paresis out comes for analyze this result. Herein, two 3d models were constructed representing the Kennedy class II case with different treatment modalities, the first model was a unilateral design fixed detachable partial denture supported by two short implant and the second model was bilateral design partial denture supported by a single short implant in the second molar area.a vertical load were applied on the two models in the central fossa of the first right molar. Stress analysis revealed that the stress was fall mostly on the denture base and the implant of the first model and the bone and the surrounding structure of the second model. Finally, the treatment modalities has shown a significant different two treatment between the modalities. |
