Abstract

The Nile Delta Basin is considered as one of the most important gas and condensate province in Egypt, with numerous fields made up of combination structural and stratigraphic traps. It is crossed by an E-W striking narrow zone (Hinge Zone) of down to the north rotated fault blocks. The Nile Delta Basin Proven reservoirs, with known accumulations, extend from Oligocene to Pleistocene in age; all are sands or sandstones of Qawasim, Abu Madi, Kafr El Sheikh and El Wastani formations. These reservoirs are proved to have good quality gas pay zones. The aim of the study is studying the gas potentialities in Miocene sediments in the study area, acquiring a hint about the prevailed sedimentary pattern using the available data and integrating the types of sedimentary environments to the gas accumulation.
