Abstract
ABSTRACT
Background: Sexuality is a central aspect of being human throughout life and encompasses sex, gender identities and roles, sexual orientation, eroticism, pleasure, intimacy, and reproduction. Sexuality is experienced and expressed in thoughts, fantasies, desires, beliefs, attitudes, values, behaviors, practices, roles, and relationships.
Aim of the work: The aim of this double blinded randomized controlled clinical trial is to identify the role of Flibanserin in female sexual activity in child bearing period according to duration of marriage.
Methods: This Double blinded randomized controlled clinical trial was performed on total 110 women with female sexual interest/arousal disorder (FSIAD) diagnosed according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fifth edition (DSM-5) model at Ain Shams university maternity hospital in period between September 2020 till March 2021 with inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Results: In group I ranged from 0-4 with mean value 2.301.02 and in group II ranged from 0-4 with mean value 2.3671.033. There was no statistical significant difference between the two studied groups regarding parity (P > 0.05).
Conclusion: The results of this randomized placebo-controlled trial indicate that flibanserin 100 mg has the potential to improve sexual desire and sexual function and reduce distress related to loss of sexual desire in premenopausal women with HSDD. There were no significant safety concerns associated with 24 weeks of flibanserin treatment and duration of marriage doesn’t affect sexual activity.
