Abstract Carangidae is considered one of the most economically important families in the Gulf of Suez. Trachurus indicus and Decapterus maruadsi are the most common, abundant and distributed carangid, The current analysis reveals that T. indicus and D. maruadsi have a lot of genetic diversity and are complex that consists of two visually similar but genetically separate species, The spawning season of T. indicus starts through the winter and spring season, it may be extending into the early summer months, The spawning season of D. maruadsi starts through the spring season, extending into the early summer months, Results recorded the life span of T. indicus was 4 years and D. maruadsi was 5 years, Lm of T. indicus was estimated as 13cm While for D. maruadsi Lm50 = 14.5 cm, The estimated Lc is smaller than Lm for investigated both species, The growth parameters K=0.36/yr L∞=22.69cm, To=-1.2yr for T. indicus, and recorded as K=0.43/yr L∞=24.20cm,To=-0.65yr for D. maruadsi , in T. indicus Z=2.67/ yr M=0.88/yr and F= 1.79/yr, in D. Maruadsi Z=3.16/ yr, M=0.97/yr and F= 2.19/yr. Expliotation ratio (E) of the two species is higher than the optimum level (E=0.5). |
