Abstract The aim of this study is to: Study if there is an impact of H. pylori (current or past) infection on microalbuminuria in type two diabetics. Study Design: This is a prospective, case controlled and observational comparative study conducted on two hundred type 2 diabetic patients. Study Site: At Kasr Al Ainy Hospital in Cairo governorate and El-Minia University Hospital in El-Minia governorate. All patients were selected from patients attending the internal medicine outpatient clinic of those hospitals.The studied diabetic patients were distributed into three groups according to H. pylori infection as:group A (positive for both stool antigen and serum antibody for H. Pylori) indicating current H. pylori infection (52 patients).group B (positive for serum antibody and negative for stool antigen for H. pylori) indicating past H. pylori infection (38 patients). group C (negative for both stool antigen and serum antibody for H. Pylori) indicating no H. pylori infection as a control group (110 patients) |
