Abstract In recent years, enterprises in developing and developed countries are more likely to face many challenges in terms of managing their processes to achieve sustainable development. It results in putting tremendous pressure on enterprises to adopt advanced manufacturing practices to achieve sustainable competitive advantage. In addition, there is a significant pressure on enterprises to manage their operations responsibly in the light of their environmental, social and economic impacts. Therefore, enterprises have been motivated to identify ways to respond to customers’ needs through performing sustainable operations. Lean manufacturing and its tools provide advanced management ideas and businesses processes to enterprises which help them achieving competitive advantage in the world market through maximizing value provided to customers without waste. Also, a lean enterprise should consider sustainable development as a universal goal. So, a sustainable lean enterprise should consider environmental and social aspects besides economic aspects. As a result, this research focuses on measuring enterprise’s leanness level and the impact of lean implementation on sustainable performance of an enterprise’s value chain. |
