This part deals with the abstract in terms of the research problem its study plan, studied, and the results have been reached, Then the recommendations and proposals of the search, and in the following manner:
First: Research problem and study plan:
The problem of the current research was determined in: the low level of deep understanding of scientific information and the level of curiosity among students of the fourth grade of primary school, and the current research tried to investigate the effect of using the strategy of scientific stations in developing a deep understanding of scientific information and curiosity among students of the fourth grade of primary.
Questions of the Research:
The current research aims at answering the following questions:
1- What is the effect of using the scientific stations strategy in teaching
science on developing a deep understanding of scientific information for
fourth grade students?
2- What is the effect of using the scientific stations strategy in teaching
science on the curiosity of the fourth-grade students?
Hypothesis of the research:
The current research attempted to test the validity of the following assumptions:
1- There is a statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between the
mean scores of the experimental group students who studied using
Scientific stations, and the scores of the control group students (which
Studied in the usual way) in the post application of the deep understanding test in favor of the experimental group.
2- There is a statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between the
Mean scores of the experimental group (which was studied using scientific
Stations), and the scores of the control group (which was taught in the usual
Way) in the post-application of the curiosity scale in favor of the
Experimental group.
Purpose of Research:
The purpose of the current research is:
- Develop a deep understanding of scientific information for fourth graders of
Primary school.
- Developing curiosity among fourth graders.
Limits of Research:
1- The unit ”Material” in the science syllabus for the fourth grade of primary
School, which is established by the Ministry of Education for the first
Semester of the year 2020/2021 AD, and this unit was chosen as it is
Suitable for the current research variables.
2- A sample of fourth-grade students at Al-Diabat New Primary School for
Girls, Sohag Governorate, Researcher’s workplace.
3- Measuring the deep understanding of the scientific information included in
The unit ”Material” among the fourth-grade students
4- Measuring scientific curiosity among fourth graders.
Materials of the Research:
1 - The teacher’s guide to proceeding with the unit “Material” assigned to the
Fourth grade students in accordance with the strategy of scientific stations.
2- Students’ worksheets to study the unit ”Material” using the strategy of
Scientific stations.
Tools of the Research:
1- A test of deep understanding at three levels: explanation, clarification,
Interpretation and application.
2 – Scale of Scientific curiosity.
Method of the Research:
Current research used:
the semi experimental method, which is based on the use of two groups, one experimental and the other control, and the pre and post measurement of the dependent variables.
Variables of the Research:
Independent variable: Using the strategy of scientific stations.
Affiliate variables: Deep understanding of scientific information and curiosity
Procedures of the Research:
To evaluate the objectives of the research, answer its questions, and test the validity of its hypotheses, the researcher follows the following procedures:
1- Reviewing the Arab and foreign literature and previous studies that dealt
With the variables of the current research to benefit from them in the
Research.
A- The strategy of scientific stations.
b- Deep understanding of scientific information.
C- Scientific curiosity.
2-Preparing educational materials for research, which are:
A- Students’ worksheets to study the unit ”Material” using the strategy of
Scientific stations.
b- The teacher’s guide to proceeding in the unit ”Material” prescribed for the
Fourth grade students, according to the strategy of scientific stations.
3- Preparing the search tools, which are?
A - A test of deep understanding of the scientific information included in
The unit ”Material” for the fourth-grade students.
B - Scientific curiosity scale.
4- Presenting research materials and tools to a group of arbitrators; to find out
Its suitability for application to fourth grade students.
5- Making the required modifications in the research materials and tools as
Deemed by the arbitrators.
6- Conducting the exploratory experiment of the research materials and tools.
7- Choosing the research sample from the fourth-grade students, and dividing
It into two groups: experimental and control.
8- Pre-application of the two search tools to the two search groups; to make
Sure, the two groups are equal.
9- Teaching the selected unit using the strategy of scientific stations for the
Experimental group, while the same unit is taught for the control group in
The usual way.
10- Post application of the two search tools to the two research groups.
11- Display and interpret search results
12- Providing recommendations and suggestions in the light of what the research
Results explain.
Current Research Results:
The current research reached the following results:
1- There was a statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between
the mean scores of the experimental group students who studied using
Scientific stations, and the scores of the control group students (which
Studied in the usual way) in the post application of the deep understanding
Test in favor of the experimental group.
2- There was a statistically significant difference at the level (0.05) between
the mean scores of the experimental group (which was studied using
Scientific stations), and the scores of the control group (which was taught in
The usual way) in the post-application of the curiosity scale in favor of the
Experimental group.
3- The use of the scientific stations strategy in teaching science has a
Significant impact on developing a deep understanding of scientific
Information and curiosity among fourth grade students.
Research recommendations and suggestions:
A- Recommendations of the research:
Based on the aforementioned research results, the researcher recommends the following:
1 - Pre-service training of science teachers on how to use the science stations strategy in teaching science at the different levels of education.
2- The necessity of paying attention to developing a deep understanding of scientific information and measuring it among students in the different stages of education.
3- The necessity of paying attention to the development of scientific curiosity and its measurement among students in the different stages of education.
4- Reconsidering the teaching methods, methods, and strategies used in teaching
Science at the primary level, and using modern teaching methods, methods and strategies that encourage students to practice scientific educational activities and arouse scientific curiosity and motivation to learn science for them.
B- Proposed research:
1- The effect of using scientific stations in teaching science on the development of scientific thinking among sixth graders.
2- The effect of using scientific stations in science teaching on the development of science processes for secondary school students.
3- Conducting studies on the effect of using scientific stations on some special groups, such as the deaf, those who excel or those who are behind in school.
4- Measuring the attitudes of science teachers in the preparatory and secondary stages towards the use of scientific stations in teaching science.
5- The effectiveness of scientific stations in developing innovative thinking and readiness for continuous learning among secondary school students.
6- The effect of using the scientific stations strategy in teaching science on the development of cognitive achievement and decision-making skill for first year middle school students.
