Abstract 1. INTRODUCTION No doubt, the intensive indiscriminate use of chemical insecticides in recent years had led to many damages for plants, animals and humans, in addition to injuries to the important beneficial natural enemies in the environment. Also, the intensive and frequent use of these insecticides for insect control has led to several problems such as, development of insects’ resistance to insecticides, destruction of the natural balance between beneficial natural enemies and target pests, phytotoxicity and secondary pests’ outbreaks. As an outcome, the role of biological control stands as a gainful alternative to the use of chemicals in the agro-ecosystem Lester et al., (2000). Biological control may be, generally, defined as the use of beneficial predators, parasitoids and pathogens to control insect and mite pests.
