Abstract The investigation contains two main approaches: First synthesizing chemical and green ZnO-NPs using Origanum majorana leaf extract; Second testing the effectiveness of green ZnO nanoparticles in alleviating the harmful effect of salinity stress on growth, some physiological aspects and the productivity of flax plant. The study showed the following results: 1- The biochemical analysis of components of leaf extract of Origanum majorana revealed the presence of four bioactive components: coumarin, steroids, tannins and flavonoids and it exhibited a significant inhibitory effect in (DPPH) scavenging assay with percent inhibition (92.4%). 2- GC-MS analysis of Origanum majorana leaf extract showed that the most abundant phytochemicals are fatty acids, terpenes, carboxylic acids, phenols, flavonoids and vitamin E. 3- Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectra of both green ZnONPs and Origanum majorana leaf extract confirms the role of the biological groups in the synthesis and stabilization of the nanoparticles. |
