Abstract

In this thesis, the elastic scattering of 20Ne on the following nuclei; 4He, 12C, 16O, and 24Mg at different energies is studied using optical model, double folding model, and cluster folding model based on the cluster nature of 20Ne as a core of 16O and a valence (alpha particle) orbiting this core. In accordance with this aim, the following nuclear systems are studied: 1- α + 20Ne nuclear system, which is investigated at Elab = 33, 48.4, 50.9, 54.1, 80.8, and 104 MeV. 2- 20Ne + 16O nuclear system, which is investigated at Ec.m. = 24.5, 24.7, 27.9, 28.2, 29.1, 31.7, 32.1, 33, and 35 MeV. 3- 20Ne + 12C nuclear system which is investigated at Elab = 129 and 390 MeV. 4- 20Ne + 24Mg nuclear system which is investigated at Elab = 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100 MeV. The elastic scattering data for 16O + 20Ne nuclear system exhibited a remarkable rise in cross sections at backward hemisphere due to the effect α-cluster transfer. Both elastic scattering and elastic transfer data are well reproduced using the several considered potentials. The optimal potential parameters and the normalization factors which could fairly fit the data are extracted, as well as the spectroscopic factor for the configuration 20Ne→16O+α. The elastic scattering data for 20Ne + 24Mg nuclear system is investigated using the phenomenological optical model, as well as the cluster folding model by taking into consideration the α + 16O structure Abstract 2 for 20Ne. It worth to mention that, the analyzed 20Ne + 24Mg data exhibited the Coulomb rainbow phenomenon, and the Fresnel peak which is formed as a result for the interference that occurs between the refracted partial waves by both the Coulomb and the nuclear potentials is well presented. The available experimental data for α + 20Ne and 20Ne + 12C systems are also reanalyzed using several models. The performed analysis showed the effectiveness and the successful of the α + 16O model for 20Ne in analyzing the considered data.
