Abstract

A whole number of 60 Guinea pigs weighting 180-200g were randomly
divided into six equal groups of 10 G. Pigs each for 45 days trial period. group
(1) served as control group. group (2) and (3) basal diet with Ginger oil and
Cinnamon oil respectively. group (4) High fat diet (HFD). group (5) and(6)
high fat diet with ginger oil and cinnamon oil respectively.
High fat diet fed groups revealed significant increase in the levels of T.-
Ch, triglyceride, LDL, HDl, vLDLand HDL, Atherogenic index and
homocysteine with reduction in total protein and albumin. As well as, increment
in ALT, AST and ALP enzymatic activities and marked increase in glucose. On
the other hand, hypercholesterolemic guinea pigs supplemented with ginger oil
or cinnamon oil revealed marked decline in the lipid profile, liver enzymes,
homocysteine and glucose levels and has supported by the improvement of the
histopathology of liver and heart. There was an increase in leptin level and
decline of adiponectin in HFD fed group which has been corrected with
administration of ginger oil or cinnamon oil. In addition to marked increase in
the levels of IL-6, IL-10, CRP and AFP in HFD group. The Oxidative stress /
Anti – oxidative results of HFD group shows decline levels of NO and increased
levels of GPx and MDA which has been altered after administration of
medicinal treatment.
