Introduction of the Study:
Strategic leadership contributes to drawing perceptions of strategic change, and thus the role of the manager and the strategic team is evident here, with its pioneering spirit, ability to take initiative, flexibility in thinking, strategic decision and appropriate strategic response to cases and type of change in the strategic environment.
In light of the modern administrative trends, it has become necessary to strive towards leadership to achieve excellence and competitiveness in its performance by relying on creativity, innovation, initiative, risk-taking and flexibility, especially in the global and local challenges and changes surrounding us. Educational leadership has multiple fields through which it works to advance the educational process in the different academic levels, as it works with students within the school community and guides them and directs them in the right direction, and raises their awareness of the correct social awareness, in addition to guiding students with a sound professional orientation, and the leadership serves the school environment in developing the educational process.
Entrepreneurial institutions have the ability to find and exploit new opportunities in order to reach competition and continuity between educational institutions, and one of these ways is to enter strategic leadership to increase the quality of education and for schools to be able to compete. To increase competitiveness in educational institutions, hence the idea of the current study in studying strategic leadership as an entry point to achieve competitive advantage in private schools in Sohag Governorate.
Problem of the Study
The main problem arises in the weak competitive advantage of the performance of private schools, which calls for activating strategic leadership to achieve and revitalize the competitive advantage in private schools.
Questions of the study
The main question of the study is the following question:
How can strategic leadership as an entrance to achieve competitive advantage in private schools in Sohag Governorate?
Several sub-questions emerge from this question:
1. What is the intellectual framework for strategic entrepreneurship in the light of contemporary administrative literature?
2. What are the theoretical bases for competitive advantage in the requirements for its availability in private schools in Sohag Governorate ?
3. What is the impact of the role of strategic leadership in enhancing the competitive advantage of private schools in Sohag Governorate?
4. What is the proposed vision for activating the role of strategic leadership to achieve competitive advantage in private schools in Sohag Governorate?
Objectives of the study:
1. The study seeks to identify and diagnose the influence relationship between the requirements of strategic leadership and the promotion of competitive advantage by organizations and by focusing on providing a theoretical and field framework for the study sample on strategic leadership and its impact on enhancing competitive advantage
2. Identifying the intellectual framework of strategic leadership in the light of contemporary administrative literature.
3. Identify the theoretical foundations of competitive advantage in educational institutions and the requirements for their availability in private schools.
4. Identifying the role of strategic leadership in enhancing the competitive advantage of private schools in Sohag Governorate.
5. Presenting a proposed scenario that can be activated by activating the role of strategic leadership to achieve competitive advantage in private schools in Sohag Governorate.
The significance of the study:
1. The importance of the study stems from the importance of the subject of the study, as strategic leadership with all its concepts, characteristics and dimensions is a contemporary scientific approach and a pioneering approach adopted by both developed and developing countries, aiming to achieve goals and activate activities and tasks in order to enhance competitive advantage in today’s world as a result of the complexity of problems and challenges facing business organizations Including the education sector and all its institutions.
2. The results of the study may benefit private school principals in identifying the concept of strategic leadership, the requirements for achieving it, and knowing their level, in order to achieve the competitive advantage of their schools.
3. Providing a theoretical rooting for strategic leadership in educational and educational institutions as an entry point for achieving competitive advantage, considering it a fertile field of research that opens many horizons, and leads to a contribution to the consolidation of a culture of strategic leadership in order to improve and raise the scientific level of the educational process as a whole, especially private education.
4. The current study helps in instilling the values of competition among workers in educational institutions, including leaders, administrators, and teachers.
5. What increases the importance of this study is the confirmation of Egypt’s Vision 2030 in its education axis, which provides for improving the competitiveness of educational institutions at the level of the public and private sectors.
Curriculum of the study:
The study relies on the descriptive approach, which depends on the study and analysis of the phenomenon as it exists in reality, and is concerned with describing it accurately and expressing it qualitatively. Competitive advantage in private schools in Sohag Governorate.
Limitations of the study :
Objective limits: The current study was limited to addressing strategic leadership in five dimensions (creativity, innovation, strategic thinking, flexibility, and risk-taking.
He addressed the competitive advantage through three dimensions (knowledge, quality, competencies), focusing on the competitive indicators of private education
Human limits:Applied to a sample of principals, agents, and teachers of schools in private basic education in Sohag Governorate.
Time limits: The study tool was applied in the second semester of the year 2020/2021.
A summary of the results of the Field Study:
- The management of private schools is working to create the appropriate organizational climate and the appropriate environment to support creative work, a basic requirement, and an urgent necessity to achieve competitive advantage in private education schools in light of the approach of strategic leadership.
- Weakness in the ability of private schools to manage the method of participating in expressing an opinion in decision-making, although this is one of the most important elements that work to achieve a competitive advantage over others.
- The lack of academic leaders in private schools who possess the spirit of initiative and flexibility in performing their work.
- The lack of a common central database between schools and the supervising authority, enabling them to exchange information and participate in educational decision-making.
- Weak capabilities and methods that help to motivate the work performance by the management of private schools, and the inability to save time to spread the culture of entrepreneurship, and to hold courses that help them develop values and skills to direct the activation of strategic pioneering behavior within the institution.
- The commitment of many school leaders to legal standards when issuing a decision against school workers without taking into account the humanitarian aspect among them.
- The administrative side lacks sufficient knowledge of using modern electronic technologies.
- The lack of human cadres that have the experience of strategic thinking based on the effectiveness of building a pioneering private school that works to confront challenges and risks, whether at the level inside or outside schools, and achieve the highest competitive position by distinguishing it from others.
- Weak encouragement of some private school leaders to encourage and exchange views among school members.
- Not giving a space of freedom and independence, and reducing bureaucracy and restrictions, so that teachers and supervisors can present initiatives and new ideas.
- Lack of use of creative thinking methods to solve problems.
- Fear of initiative and risk when making a decision for fear of failure and lack of responsibility for this decision.
- The lack of time and the many requirements on the part of the administration of the private school are among the tasks that must be accomplished in the least amount of time, causing many teachers to have low morale, and to not realize the importance of creativity and innovation in their work.
