Abstract The aim of this study was to assess the results of surgical fixation of Jones fractures using a cannulated cancellous screw 4, 6.5 mm. This prospective study was performed from February 2020 to February 2021 in Tanta University Hospital and Mansoura general hospital. Patients aged (17 -60) years old with Jones fractures of the base fifth metatarsal bone, were included. Informed consent was obtained from every patient before inclusion in this study. (21) patients were operated on. Surgery was done under spinal anesthesia. A tourniquet was applied. Antibiotic prophylaxis was given to the patients 30 minutes before applying the tourniquet. The patients were positioned in a supine position. Fractures were fixed by a cannulated cancellous 4, 6.5 mm screw. The small skin incision was made along a line centered over the tuberosity of the base fifth metatarsal. |
