Abstract The effect of various carbon sources on L-glutaminase production by Penicillium chrysogenum was investigated using different carbon sources including sucrose, glucose, xylose, maltose and mannitol. Glucose expressed the highest production of L-glutaminase. The optimal temperature for the enzyme production was 40°C.The best incubation period was 6 days. Benzylaminopurine(BAP)was the best activator for the enzyme followed by jasmonic acid(JA),gibberellic acid(GA3) and kinetin was the least activator. Spermidine as polyamine was the best inducer followed by spermine, putrescine and agmatine. |
