Abstract

NE Alamein Field is located in the Easternmost part of Yidma/Alamein concession, which lies in the Northern Western Desert of Egypt, about 130 Km Southwest of Alexandria, and extending between latitudes 30° 24’ and 30° 48’ N, and longitudes 28° 36’ and 28° 48’ E. The structural interpretation of the seismic lines covering the area confirmed that the main reservoirs of the field are extending across the concession border to the neighboring concession, and based on EGPC instructions, it is banned to drill wells at any distance less than 400m to the concession border, the matter which would cause a significant amount of oil reserves to be left behind in the aforementioned sector.
