Abstract Cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) have been increasingly used in the past years. CIEDs include also different types of pacemakers which have been used for management of significant bradyarrhythmias. There is arise in CIED related complications in the past years with the increase in the number of devices implanted. The aim of the study was to determine prevalence, patient characteristics, risk factors, indications and complications among patients of pacemaker implantation at Tanta university hospitals. All patients with pacemaker implantation were studied in the period of six months from October 2020 until April 2020 with follow up for 6 months.They were studied at the department of cardiology Tanta University Hospitals. We excluded patients <18 years old. Data were collected and many variables were defined to standardize data entry. Data collected included demographic data of patients, medical history with triggering factors of patients, investigations, indications and complications of patients. Study population consisted of males (44%), female (56%) with mean age of 62.43 ±9.9 years. analysis of demographic data about patients co morbidities revealed the following; hypertensive patients were (69%), diabetic patients were (29%), IHD patients were (21%), CKD patients were (18%), thyroid dysfunction patients (6%), cardiomyopathy (3%), VHD patients (2%), congenital heart disease patients (1%) of the study population |
