Also no one of them had satisfactory total performance scores at the pre-intervention phase while all of them had satisfactory performance at the post-intervention and follow up phases. Moreover, no one of them had satisfactory total audit scores at the pre-intervention phase while all of them had satisfactory audit scores at the post-intervention phase
No one of the staff nurses in the study sample had satisfactory total knowledge scores at the pre-intervention phase while all of them had satisfactory knowledge at the post-intervention and follow up phases, The findings of the study support the research hypothesis that nurses’ knowledge and performance regarding shift hand over and quality of report was improved after implementing the program
Recommendations
In the light of results of this study, the following recommendations are suggested:

For education
• Staff development program regarding shift report must be implemented for staff nurses&head nurses Conducting training programs regarding shift report.
• Providing sufficient training for nursing student at faculties of nursing to be well prepared for future duties.
For research
• Replication of the study at different health care settings.

Summary
It is important that all healthcare team members communicate with each other regarding assessment, intervention outcomes, and client status. Shift report is crucial on achieving effective, safe, and high quality communication when the responsibility for the patient care is transferred from one nurse to another in suitable manner. It is apparent that a breakdown in communication systems, in hospitals, compromises the patient safety obviously. Ineffective handover can lead to incorrect patient treatment, delays in diagnosis and treatment, unnecessary tests; increase the length of stay, patient complaints and malpractice claims (Deng, et al., 2018; ALasdy, 2019).
The aim of this study is measuring the effect of shift report training program for nurses on quality of reporting.
One type pretest-post test research design was used to achieve the aim of the current study. This study was conducted at Shoubra General Hospital which affiliated ministry of health hospitals Total bed capacity is (200) bed. Two groups of subjects participated in the study 50 head nurses and 129 staff nurses out from 194.
Three data collection tools were used to carry out this study namely, knowledge questionnaire sheet, Observational check list, Audit sheet.
The present study revealed the following main results:
• No one of the head nurses in the study sample had satisfactory total knowledge scores at the pre-intervention phase and reach 100% at the post-intervention phase, while the follow-up phase showed some declines, down to 80% in total knowledge scores.
• No one of the staff nurses in the study sample had satisfactory total knowledge scores at the pre-intervention phase and reach 100% at the post-intervention and follow up phases.
• No one of the head nurses in the study sample had satisfactory total performance scores at the pre-intervention phase and reach 100% at the post- intervention phase, while the follow-up phase showed some declines, down to 70% in total performance scores.
• Only 5.4% of the staff nurses in the study sample had satisfactory total performance scores at the pre-intervention phase and reach 97.7% at the post-intervention phase, while the follow-up phase showed some declines, down to 95.3% in total performance scores.
• Through examination and scrutiny, it was found that the shift report lacks the characteristics and features of a sound report in the pre-intervention phase, while this level improved in the post and follow up phases
Conclusion
The current study concluded that:
Nurses’ knowledge and performance regarding shift hand over and quality of report was improved after implementing the program.
