Abstract Aging is a biological phenomenon resulted in breakdown of body organs as well as testicular tissues resulting in infertility. Whey is a byproduct of cheese production & has a very high nutritional value with numerous health benefits. We are looking of evaluating the anti-aging properties of whey to improve male reproductive organs especially testis& prostate and assessed the structural and functional variations during aging of rats. Twenty-four rats, dividing according to their age into two groups, adult group (8 months old, N=12) and aged group (30 months old, N=12). Each group was then subdivided into two groups, a whey supplemented group (N=6) and a non-supplemented group (N=6). Each rats dosed orally 2 mL3 twice doses of whey every other day for two months. At the end of treatment, the rats were euthanized by intraperitoneal injection of 60 mg ketamine /kg body weight, followed by cervical dislocation and dissected. The blood was collected in non-heparinized tubes and serum was separated. Testes & prostate were dissected and investigated biochemically, histopathologically, transmission electron microscopy and immunohistochemically. |
